A few days ago I posted about Meijer's new mPerks program.  One of the benefits to signing up for this new digital program is that you would receive a $5.00 off a $5.00 or more purchase - and how great would that be!  $5.00 in free groceries, right? I quickly signed up and planned my trip to Meijer.  With all of the hot deals this week, I was thrilled!  I had my trip planned out to the penny (of course!) and was excited to get a few things that I otherwise probably would not have bought this week. I was not very happy when I got up to the register, scanned my products, and the $5.00 did not come off.  I regretfully put everything back on the shelf - I wanted that $5.00 off! I read online that Meijer had just been backed up loading the coupons and that the problem was to be resolved.  So, I went back to the store....loaded up my cart, went to check out, and it still did not deduct the $5.00 :-(  Customer Service at Meijer stated they had no idea what was going on and that I would have to contact mPerks directly. I contacted the mPerks department today and talked with a lovely customer service assistant.  She explained to me that the mPerks program was not supposed to go live to the public until 8/29/10.  I let her know that I understood that, but that I had signed up a few days ago under the premise that I would receive the $5.00 coupon - and that I knew a lot of others had signed up under that premise as well. She stated they have no way to get into the computers at this point, but let me know that if the promo $5.00 does not come off - to contact the head cashier or the "authorized" cashier at the store I shop.  She even went a step farther to connect me directly to the store so that they would be aware of what was going on.  I talked with the store and they let me know how they would make it right for me if the promo did not automatically deduct on my next trip. I appreciate this level of service.  It can be very frustrating at times to expect a deduction in your bill and then not have it occur.  After my two trips this week to Meijer and the seemingly poor customer service that I received in store - I was dreading returning to shop there (even with all the great deals!).  I am satisfied that they are going to make this right. If you're having problems with your mperks account not working as it should (ie - deductions not coming off, etc) head over to customer service and ask for the head cashier.  They should be able to work something out for you.  They also let me know that it would be helpful for them to bring in a print out of the mperks page where it shows the coupon loaded and your mperks number.

If you saw my earlier post about mPerks going live - I hope you have taken the time to sign up.  If you've not yet done this - do it now!  Meijer mPerks is a great new program that brings Meijer into the digital age with coupons.  You register will your cellular phone number and they'll send you an activation code.  You log into your account and voila! - You have coupons available to "clip" to your account. I was pleasantly surprised to see there were a variety of coupons available.  Take a look at what you'll have at your fingertips on you sign up: $5.00 off of a $5.00 purchase (valid through 8/28/10) $0.50/1 Superpretzel $0.35/1 Hillshire Farm Lunchmeat $0.75/1 Smart Balance Milk There are several others as well.  It appears that these coupons are redeemed by looking for the mPerks logo during checkout (either at the bottom of the credit card scanner machine or on the UScan at the bottom of the screen).  You'll then be prompted to put in your 10 digit phone number that you registered with. Remember, just for signing up you'll get the $5.00 off of a $5.00 purchase, and with Meijer's rocking deals this week, it's a good week to have that!  So, get signed up here!
