Walgreen’s Corporate Coupon Policy: It EXISTS!

Thank goodness - Walgreen's has FINALLY decided to issue a Corporate Coupon Policy!  There has been so much discrepancy between various Walgreen's and corporate has (up to now) always just deferred back to the store manager's discretion.  Now, there is a policy in print that we can all refer to in the event of any issues! Here are some highlights that I see:
  • Walgreens will accept manufacturer coupons for an item that is on sale
  • In the event that any item's selling price is less than the value of the coupon, Walgreens will only accept the coupon in exchange for the selling price of the item. Coupon redemption can never exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons (This translates into they CAN adjust the price of the coupon down!  I know this has been an issue at some stores, so I am VERY happy to see this)
  • When purchasing a single item, Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and applicable Walgreens coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.
  • The coupon amount must be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied. (For example, a $5.00 coupon for a $4.99 item will result in a $4.99 coupon value)
  • When purchasing multiple items, Walgreens accepts multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers, unless a limit is specified. Management reserves the right to limit the quantity of items purchased.
  • When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased. (WAHOO - BOGO sale and BOGO coupon = FREE!!)
  • The number of manufacturer coupons, including RR manufacturer coupons, must not exceed the number of items in the transaction.
So....there are a few other things as well, but these are the highlights.  Shopping at Walgreen's should be much easier with this in place.  Check out the full policy and get it PRINTED so you can take with you HERE.    I will also add it to the Coupon Policy Page so you can have it for future reference. Now, go check out this week's and next week's Walgreen's deals to see what you can score!

Thanks Amber, I’ll just bet some stores will still try to say that you can not use a bogo coupon along with a bogo sale and due to corporate saying 2 coupons can be used and doesn’t discuss bogo along with bogo, they will still say that it’s a no go. :(

Do love that they mention reducing a coupon down because our local store will never do that, they say it’s fraud, lol.

Yes, unfortunately that may be the case. I do have in writing (email) from the store manager of the Mall Road store in Florence that you can combine.

” My name is T.J. Connelly and I am the store manager at the Walgreens in Florence on Mall Rd. I am responding to your inquiry about our coupon policy. I’m afraid that we do not have a written coupon policy and I apologize if you received less than great service at my store. To answer your question, we will take a coupon for buy 1 get 1 free during a promotion of buy 1 get 1 free. Basically the only thing you would pay is sales tax. I hope this answers your questions. If you ever have a problem while in my store, please ask for myself or any of my management staff and we will be happy to assist you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

I don’t know if printing that out will help at all or not! I guess if you want to drive over to Florence it would ;-) However, now that they at least have a policy, maybe they will fine tune that a little better as well – I’m just so glad they finally have something concrete!

I’m so glad that they have a policy now! I went to a Walgreen’s downtown Cincinnati and the manager accused me of trying to commit coupon fraud! I was flabbergasted. There is another Walgreen’s less than a mile from there also downtown and the manager of that store rang me up himself with no problems at all. I HATE when they act like we’re trying to “steal” from them.

Yes, it is good they finally have a policy so that all stores can be on one page. I think that was the biggest issue people had with shopping at Walgreen’s – one store would let you do one thing and the next wouldn’t. Hopefully there will be much less issue shopping there now :-)
